Elche once again becomes the epicenter of independent cinema with the arrival of 48º Elche Independent Internacional Film Festival (FICIE). From July 11th to 18th 2025, the city will be filled with screenings, excitement, rising stars, and encounters with the best cinema 🎥. If you love good stories and outdoor cultural activities, this event is for you! 💫

🌍 Cinema from around the world under the stars✨
This year, the festival received more than 2,000 short films from more than 50 countries and selected 63 unique pieces to compete in different categories. From France, Iran, Argentina, to Canada and Spain, cultural and creative diversity will be present in each story.
The screenings will take place in two magical settings:
- 🌴 El Hort del Xocolater, in the heart of Elche’s Palm Grove, a World Heritage Site.
- 🌊 Arenales del Sol Beach, where cinema blends with the sound of the sea every night at 10:00 PM.

🏆 Official Competition and Special Awards
Short films will compete in 11 different categories, including:
- Best Fiction Short Film 🎞️
- Best Documentary Short 🎙️
- Best Animated Short 🧩
- Audience Award 👥
In addition, several of the FICIE awards are pre-selectable for the Goya Awards, making the festival a great platform for emerging talents in the seventh art ✨

🎥 Feature Films, Debut Films, and More
From July 3rd to 18th, the Odeón Cinemas will host a special series of feature films and debut films. The best part is that many of their directors will be present at the screenings and participate in discussions with the audience 🎤. An incredible opportunity to get up close and personal with the emerging creators of Spanish cinema.
🌟 Tributes, Workshops, and Side Activities
This year, the festival will pay tribute to the great filmmaker Jaime Chávarri with a screening of Kisses for All and an exclusive discussion with the director. Additionally, there will be:
- 🧠 Roundtable discussions on artificial intelligence and film.
- 🎭 Acting and casting preparation workshops with Cristina Alcázar.
- 🎨 Side artistic activities for the whole family.

The festival also organizes training activities and meetings: workshops (“Painting with Film” on poster design, storyboarding, animation, etc., and an acting and casting course taught by actress Cristina Alcázar, along with casting director Sofía Siveroni and representative Verónica Reche), as well as roundtable discussions with filmmakers.
