💃🕺 If you are one of those who get excited with music that gives you goosebumps and transports you to the sea, you have to experience at least once the Certamen Internacional de Habaneras y Polifonía de Torrevieja. And this year, 2025, its 71st edition arrives… no more, no less! 😍
This event, declared a Festival of International Tourist Interest, is one of the oldest and most prestigious musical events in Spain. Its origins date back to 1955, as a tribute to the Torrevieja sailors who maintained commercial and cultural ties with Cuba. Thus was born a tradition that has crossed borders, connecting generations through the magical rhythm of the habanera—a musical style full of nostalgia, tenderness, and seafaring flavor.🌅 💙

When, where and the program?

- 📍 Location: Usually in the Eras de la Sal (this year it is moving to the Municipal Theater due to renovations)

The inauguration, on July 20, promises to open with a flourish at the Municipal Theater, with the participation of the Torrevieja Musical Union, local voices Conchita Pérez and Alberto Ballesta performing the official anthems, and singer Sole Jiménez as a special guest.
In this Competition, recognized as a Festival of International Tourist Interest since 1994, 700 voices will participate, gathered in 17 choirs from Europe, America and Asia, reflecting once again the global reach and international projection that characterizes this event year after year.🌎

And what is there to experience there? 👀
Every night, choirs sing habaneras (those songs that sound like the sea and nostalgia 💭) and powerful choral pieces. The atmosphere is beautiful: chairs, lanterns, a sea breeze, and a lot of applause.
